The whole story
Clarkston, Michigan · Since 1995
A restaurant built on the cornerstone of authentic American comfort — one cheese-strewn noodle at a time. Pull up a pew.
The tally on our wall
dishes of mac & cheese right here since 1995
There is a scoreboard above the arch that ticks up every time a Union Mac leaves the kitchen. It rolled past a million and nobody thought to throw a party — we were busy making the next one.
Penne rigate layered with a blend of Vermont sharp cheddar and mild Pinconning — a Michigan cheese from a Michigan town — then baked until the top goes golden and crackly. It is the reason people drive here from three counties over.
What's good
Burgers and pot pie and meatloaf, sure. Also arepas, harissa chickpeas, a green goddess wedge and a cracker-crust pizza that changes with the market. Bread comes from Crust — a baking company in Fenton.

The whole story
A rotating special that has carried everything from bourbon-soaked peaches to kalamata, pickled chili and feta.

The building
It went up in the 1840s and spent a century and a half as a Baptist church. In the 1970s the congregation modernized — and covered the stained glass. When Curt Catallo's parents bought the building to keep it from falling down, Ann Stevenson went looking for what had been hidden, and put it back.
Today you eat under those windows, in pews, beneath a disco ball. Nobody finds that strange after the first five minutes.
Word of mouth
“The food was fantastic. All 3 dishes at our table were A+, some of the best we have had in a while.”
“We loved the atmosphere… old church pews and stained glass windows from it's previous life.”
“The food was excellent with huge portions. The server never once made a mistake.”

A room of your own with its own bar and plenty of seating — rehearsal dinners, showers, birthdays, wakes, sales meetings that go long.
